Version 2.15 is out! So what?

Ok ... no news here.
Just go to here and download it.
This version is EXACTLY the same code as 2.14, the only difference is that this one is built against the latest LibOpenMetaverse code as of Dec/23 11PM.
If there is any improvement to the LibOpenMetaverse code since MyProxy 2.14 was built, this improvement will (hopefully) reflect on the behavior of MyProxy 2.15.
I hope you guys enjoy this release as much as I enjoy playing with it.

AH!!! and in case you don't hear from me by then...

MERRY XMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! MAY ALL THE PEACE OF THE (VIRTUAL) WORLD COME TO YOU AND YOUR RELATIVES!!!

Cheers,
The Borg.

  6. @April

Most of the commands do work indeed, at least partially and for my intents of transferring some of my items to OSGrid. I do /save in SL, and /load in OSGrid, and am very happy. But you're right, /load and /store never worked for me in SL, even in a 1000 m placed empty sandbox.

For rezzed prims I prefer to use Testclient, but it's command line too, but I prefer this way anyway myself though :) Textures have to be transferred separately of course, and the uuid's changed.

Wish you and all a happy and successful New Year and my The Borg be soon again with us :-)

  9. OK, here some infos:

I should called this "libopenmv" :-) TestClient is just that, a basic command line program intended to demonstrate the capabilities of the openmetaverse library (libopenmv). The team of libopenmv (former libopensl) has reengineered (nearly) the whole SL-protocol and libopenmv is thus the base for all those bot programs (e.g. metabolt, radegast, secondinventory and many more, that just add a simple GUI to TestClient) and proxies (also MyNewProxy), and even Opensim uses it (correct me if I'm wrong). "Enduser" functionality is not added regularly, because the effort is on the protocol side and probably because of the legal problems too. You can get it at: http://www.openmetaverse.org/ and either use the precompiled version (TestClient can be found in some deeper folder hierarchy under "examples") or compile it by yourself from svn sources for VC# or Mono. Once you get the code, you can start tweaking it, of course... this is what our Borg and others have done.

The idea of working with a Proxy, like in this case, is quite appealing, but I guess there is some overhead involved, which can make it less reliable to use in some situations (e.g. high traffic) than a client/viewer. Although you may see similar problems using TestClients too, so it may just be, that libopenmv is still not 100% capable of decoding/encoding the whole protocol/traffic in a reliable way.

One of the problems is the used free graphics library libopenjpg, which poses some problems with tag-files and transparencies, as well as with sculpties; it's usually better to upload them through the normal viewer, although this is quite tedious. But as long as you stay in SL, you don't have to upload any textures, because they are already stored with the correct uuid on the SL asset servers. The challenge comes when transferring items to other Grids (here: shameless advertising for osgrid.org :) because after uploading a texture it changes its uuid of course, so all the references in your xml-files have to be changed before importing items. You have to note the new uuids after uploading and a simple script in any scripting language (including C#, hehe) or editor-macro can do this bulk change.

I'm sorry, all this is not so easy, but doable, even transferring animations (but not scripts, this is technically impossible). Let's wish our almighty "The Borg" a good sleeping baby and a creative 2010, and we might get a better third life :-)

    Cheers, K-Werk

  11. Finally I have my Anim to BVH converter!
I have fought for one month with quaternions, Euler angles and so on and now, finally, I succeeded.
I download animation file from the server (using myProxy), and then turn it into a BVH file.

    Cheers,
    Gina
